Sherborne has such a lot going for it but there are one or two incomplete parts of the jigsaw puzzle in terms of restaurents and bars. Drinksmith Wine Bar (above the wine shop on South Street) is certainly a welcome addition to Sherborne and provides a convivial place to meet friends late afternoon or early evening.
The Art Deco feel of the wine bar is very relaxing and Jack, the manager is very attentive and knowledgeable about the wines on offer (without any smugness sometimes apparent in knowledgeable sommeliers!).
It was a little disconcerting at first to be offered wine in a can as well as by the bottle, but having tasted some of them I have to admit, I was not only impressed by the quality of the wine, but at about £6 for a 250ml can, just over a third of a bottle - easily enough for two - it works out much cheaper than pubs even, for a glass or two of wine!
Jack has only just opened but having spoken with him, I know he is keen to make an impression and has lots of events planned which should appeal to the Sherborne Community in the future.
More Blogs will be forthcoming as his journey unfolds I'm sure...watch this space.
